                     A survey of various types of Christian music. Students will evaluate local Christian music.

ChrE 100    Chrisitan Educational Orientation (3)

                     Prospective education students will be given an indepth view of the programs available in the field of Christian Education. A six-hour practicum is required.

                     This course examines legal responsibilities and liabilities, ethics, court decisions, with emphasis on school law pertaining to Christian institutions in Louisiana.

ChrE 220     Legal aspects of Christian Home Schooling (3)

                     This course examines legal responsibilities and liabilities, court decisions, and supportive legal organizations for Christian home schooling..

ChrE 230     Survey of Christian Curricula (3)

                     This course is designed to provide information about various curricula for Christian Home-Schoolers.

ChrE 240    Christian School Personnel (3)

                    This course examines job descriptions of all Christian School employees. Research and a practicum is an integral part of this course.

ChrE 301    Tests & Measurements for Christian Schools (3)

                     The nature, principles, and utilization of measurements as an appraisal device in analyzing educational efforts and various non-test and informal evaluation  methods are

                      surveyed for Christian

                      Schools’ use.

ChrE 310     Research/Practicum in Christian Education (3)

                     This course is designed to expose the education major to practical experience in the local Christian School under the supervision of a principal or classroom teacher. The

                      course requires spending a

                      minimum of 45 hours spread over ten consecutive school days working at the school in actual teaching responsibilities along with a  variety of other projects.

ChrE 311     Research/Practicum in Christian Home Schooling (3)

                     This course requires in-depth research in the area of Home Schooling with emphasis on Christian environments. Visitation and observation reports are required activities.

ChrE 315     Art in Elementary Christian School (3)

                     This course acquaints the student teacher with the principle theories, procedures,  and basic materials necessary to the teaching of classroom art in elementary Christian

                       schools.

ChrE 320     Christian Educational relationships (3)

                     This course considers the individuality of the learning experience and concentrates on how to study, on the role of intelligence and behavior in studying and learning, and

                      on the uses and misuses

                      of educational and vocational guidance programs in Christian schools. Greatest attention is given to the comparison of popular learning theories with scriptural principles.

ChrE 321     Methods in Christian Elem. Sch. Lang. Arts (3)

                     The basic concepts of composition and traditional grammar are reviewed and  practiced, along with the most effective methods of teaching these basic concepts in a

                       Christian setting.

ChrE 322     Methods in Christian Elem. Sch. Social Studies (3)

                     This course is a study of objectives, organization, and materials in teaching social  studies in a Christian setting.

ChrE 325     Methods in Christian Elem. Sch. Science (3)

                     This course is a study of objectives, organization, and materials in teaching science in a Christian setting.

ChrE 334     Reading in Christian Elem. Schools (3)

Using the phonetic approach, this course is constructed to give Christian elementary teachers the skills needed to help students acquire the foundational reading, spelling, penmanship, and grammar skills as taught in the Christian elementary curriculum.

ChrE 335     Reading Methods for Christians in Content Area (3)

                     Diagnosis and treatment of reading difficulties in Christian secondary grades.

ChrE 340     Speech for Christian Educators (3)

                     This course studies basic speech techniques; and requires students to construct and give at least three speech (two in class and one in a school Christian classroom).

ChrE 352     Christian Children's Literature (3)

                     The study of the best children's literature is provided with required annotations in Christian Literature.

ChrE 400      Evaluation Procedures for Christian Schools (3)

This course analyses various grading methods used in the classroom; and emphasis is placed on fairness and accuracy.

ChrE 410     Survey of Exceptional Children in Christian Schools (3)

This course surveys literature pertaining to exceptionality in children in the Christian schools. Research and written reports are required.

                     This course examines legal responsiblities and liabilities, ethics, court decisions, with emphasis on school law pertaining to Christian institutions in Louisiana.

                     History, philosophy, and functions of the Christian junior high school; its structure, administration, curriculum, staff, and facilities.

ChrE 424     Methods in Christian Elem. School P.E. (3)

                     Methods, objectives, instructional materials, teaching techniques, and evaluation at the Christian elementary school level.

ChrE 425     Christian Secondary School Methods (3)

                     The student analyzes, implements, and evaluates various teaching strategies including the latest technological methods as they relate to content areas in a Christian setting.

ChrE 426     Methods in Christian Elem. Sch. Mathematics (3)

         Methods, problems, trends, and literature in the teaching of Christian elementary school mathematics; also exploration and appraisal of remedial techniques and selected

          instructional materials

         and devices.

ChrE 430     Introduction to Instructional Technology for Christians (3)

Students will evaluate the use of hardware and software appropriate for Christian use.

ChrE 452     Student Teaching in Christian Schools (9)

                     This course includes observation, participation, and teaching in the classroom under the direction and supervision of the regular classroom teacher and faculty supervisor.

A course designed to develop basic skills necessary for solving educational problems through research activity; provides experiences in data gathering, statistical analysis, and interpretation of research findings in Christian education.

ChrF 101    First Aid for Christians (2)

                    An introduction to the care and prevention of athletic injuries comprises half of the course, the remainder is spent obtaining instructor certification in first aid and CPR with

                       the Red Cross.

                     A systematic examination of man's world that encompasses physical environment,  political systems, population, land, wealth, spatial impact, social systems, and cultural

                      values in a Christian perspective..

ChrG 102    World Geography for Christians (3)

                     The study of the geography of the Bible Lands as it relates to world events.                
ChrH 102   Louisiana History in a Christian Perspective (3)

         A study of Louisiana's history from colonialism to the present with emphasis on Christian activities.

ChrH 120    Human Growth and Development (3)     

                     An introduction to the self-actualization of a person so that, under God, he is doing what he is best fitted to do. Emphasis is placed upon self-understanding and the

                      development of personal relationships.

ChrL 201     World Literature in a Christian Perspective (3)

                     A study of the literature of the world from Greek to Roman classics, medieval literature, the renaissance, through present day Western European Christian literature.

ChrL 210     Afro-American Literature in a Christian Perspective (3)

                     A study of the origin of Afro-American literature and its effects on the Christian society.

ChrL 301    Business Law for Christians (3)

                    This course deals with legal principles which apply to normal business transactions with the churches and Christian Institutions. Contracts, labor-management

                      responsibilities, property, insurance, partnerships and corporations, wills and trusts, and torts and business crimes are discussed.

ChrM 101   Integrated Mathematics (3)

                     An introductory Mathematics course with emphasis on algebra and geometry, and practical applications associated with area of study.

ChrM 102   Fundamental of Mathematics (3)

                     Sets, logic various numeration systems, number sequences and topics of the real number system are studied. Designed primarily for Christian elementary education majors.

ChrM 103   College Math I (3)

                     This course is designed to be an overview of mathematics from basic addition and subtraction to basic algebra and geometry.

ChrM 104   College Math II (3)

                     Topics in the complex number system, properties of numbers, finite mathematics systems, algebra, geometry, and a comprehensive module on solving word problems.      

ChrM 105    College Algebra I (3)

                     Sets, the real number system, functions and graphs, exponential and logarithmic functions, and systems of equations & inequalities.

ChrM 106   College Algebra II (3)

                     A continuation of Math 105 with emphasis on polynomial functions, and complex numbers.

ChrM 210   Essentials of Trigonometry (3)

                     This course consists of a study of trigonometric functions and their applications, using tables and students' calculators.

ChrM 220   Preparatory Calculus (3)

                    A preparation course for Calculus with Analytic Geometry. An indepth review of algebraic and trigonometric functions; and basic calculus.

ChrM 300/ChrE 300 Statistics and Probabilities for Christian Educators(3)

Survey course in general statistic and probabilities including sampling techniques, the binomial distribution, the normal distribution, decision-making, correlation, and  regression.      

ChrM 301  Calculus I (4)

                    This course includes elements of analytic geometry, functions, limits, derivatives, and applications of the derivative.

ChrM 302  Calculus II (4)

                    Topics includes integral and their applications, exponential, logarithmic, trigonometric functions and related derivatives and integration; and formula integration techniques.

ChrM 310  College Geometry & Applications (4)

                    This course studies Euclidean geometry; but the main emphasis will be on Non-Euclidean geometry. A student project is required.

 ChrM 320  Principles of Management for Christians (3)

                   This course is an introduction to the concepts of planning and control which draw upon management techniques and strategies for Christian institutions.               

ChrM 340 Business Mathematics and Statistics Studies for Christians (3)

                   An introduction to the problems found in finance and statistical functions pertaining to Christian institutions.

ChrR 110  Basic Reading for Christians (3)

       A survey course designed to introduce Christian education majors to the basic concepts involved in the reading process. It includes definitions of reading, history of

       reading instruction, approaches to teaching reading, evaluation techniques, and the accommodation of exceptionalities.

ChrS 101   Basic Biology for Christians (3)

                   A course designed to introduce the student to basic principles of biological science. The survey of plants and animals will be an integrated study with creationism.

ChrS 102   Basic Chemistry for Christians (3)

A study of the general principles governing chemical and physical change recognizing that God is the “Governor.” Attention is given to atomic and molecular structure, formulas, equations, periodicity, and properties of physical states.

ChrS 103   Physical Science (3)

                   An introduction to the basic concepts, applications, and principles of physical science in a Christian setting.

ChrS 203   Introduction to Physic for Christians (3)  

                   A general study of mechanics, molecular physics, heat, magnetism, electricity, sound, light, and atomic physics in a Christian setting.

ChrW 101 Grammar/Composition I in Christian Context(3)

          A review of the fundamentals of English grammar, with emphasis on the mechanics of writing. English grammar in a written Christian context is emphasized.

Coun 101   Foundations of Biblical Counseling (3)

                   This course covers the principles  and practice of Biblical Counseling.

Coun 201   Common Care Counseling (3)

                   This course trains the Pastoral Counselor to set up a program for lay members of his church to conduct lay level counseling/discipleship in the local CHURCH.

Coun 202   Fundamentals of Pastoral Counseling (3)

                   A complete study of the basis for Pastoral Counseling. This course shows the Pastor how  to prepare himself and the lay ministers in providing quality Pastoral Counseling.

Coun 203   Pastoral Counseling (3)

                   This course provides a detailed study of the pastor as a care giver and counselor, and provides a detailed model for providing true pastoral care.

Coun 204   Pastoral Counseling & The Law (3)

                   This course covers the following topics: Liability in Christian Counseling, Sexual Misconduct, Confidentiality, Managing Liability Risks, and the Maturing of the Christian

                    Counseling Profession.

Coun 205   Premarital Counseling for Pastors (3)

                   This course provides a detailed study of the need of premarital counseling and a step-by-step program on conducting premarital counseling.

Mind 101   Man: Three-Fold Nature (3)

                   An indepth study of man - His body, soul, and spirit. An exhaustive explanation of the mind of man is given.

Mind 105   Man: Three-Fold Nature(Research) (6)

                   Same as Mind 101, but with added research.

Mind 200   Child Understanding (3)

                   Physical, mental, social, and emotional growth and development of the individual from birth through the pre-adolescent period in a Christian setting.

Mind 210   Adolescent Understanding (3)

                   The developmental study of the physical, social, emotional, and moral factors which affect pre-adolescent youths in a Christian setting.

Mind 300     Social Understanding (3)

Process of interaction and communication by which persons influence and are influenced by others; developing of self, role behavior, attitude, values, social norms, and cultural conditioning in a Christian setting.

Prea 120      Prayer Dynamics (3)

                     This course provides a detailed study of every aspect of prayer and how to build a solid prayer life.

Prea 140      Cults & the Occult (3)

                     An examination of the history, theology and methodology of the major American cults with an evaluation of these teachings in the light of the scripture.

Prea 200      Eschatology (3)

                     A detailed investigation into what the Bible predicts about the future, including a discussion about heaven an hell.

Prea 220      Evangelism (3)

                     A study of theology, principles, and methods of evangelism designed to equip students to lead people to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. Included is an explanation of

                     ways to deal with common objections to the gospel.

Prea 300      Pastoral Ministry (3)

                     Practical instructions for a pastor's public ministry. Classroom presentations and on-the-field demonstrations will show the students how to conduct worship services,

                      baptism, weddings, funerals,

                      ordinations, etc... Included are guidelines for hospital and home visitation as well as pastoral ethics.

                     Development of the Sunday School to the present day, including principles and methods of Sunday School constituency, department organization and supervision,

                      objectives, methods, and soul winning.

Prea 320      Church Leadership and Administration (3)

This course is designed to develop leadership potential in students and to give them a familiarity with the various elements of the administrative process, including: goal setting and achieving, human relations, group dynamics, and supervision.

Prea 400      Basic Homiletics (3)                        

                     This course provides a complete study of the development and delivery methods used in biblical preaching.

Prea 410      Praise and Worship (3)

                     This course provides a complete study on praise and worship in the local church. Topics include Worship's Priority, Purpose and Portrayal; Preparing for a Worship Service;

                       and Principles for a successful Worship Leader.

Prea 500      Pastoral Practicum (3)

                     Selected and guided experiences in the local church pastoral situations. This course culminates all other pastoral training and courses, providing a realistic setting for

                       practical application.
